Despite the cold weather over the weekend we did manage a walk around Alresford. There is a circular walk which takes you past the ancient Fulling Mill and its lovely garden. You can just see the clumps of snowdrops. The pictures show the back and front of the mill. The water was running very high but the River Arle, a tributary of the Itchen, rarely floods as all the rivers in this area are heavily controlled as they are fast running chalk streams renowned for trout and they feed the water cress beds.
